Stencil a Fortuny Silk Damask Wall Finish
The exquisite depth of Fortuny silk fabrics was our inspiration for this wallpaper look that features a custom stencil pattern filled with tinted, shimmery wax over a soft textural plaster background.

Custom Blue Wax Recipe:
- For each pint (2 cups) Aquawax add 1 teas. Blue and ¾ teas. Earth Brown
Step 1: Trowel a thin skim/skip coat of Venetian Gem Basecoat overall. Allow to dry.
Step 2: Trowel a second thin skim coat of Venetian Gem Basecoat overall. Allow to dry.
Step 3: Sand the surface if necessary and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Allow to dry.
Step 4: Place the allover Modello® pattern. Use a Japan Blade to skip trowel another layer of Venetian Gem Basecoat, leaving the background showing through in an irregular pattern. Coverage of VG Basecoat on this layer should be 75%-80%. Allow to dry.
Step 5: Use a Japanese Trowel to trowel a layer of the Custom Blue Wax Recipe overall. Use short strokes and change the direction of your hand often to create more movement and irregularity. Allow to dry.
Step 6: Apply an additional layer of Custom Blue Wax overall, using either the Japan Scraper or Japanese Trowel. Allow to dry.
Step 7: Remove the Modell®o pattern. Take some Custom Blue Wax and add an equal part untinted wax to create a lighter value. Use a Japanese Trowel to apply overall. Pound with a damp terry towel or cheesecloth, if necessary, to soften out any harsh trowel marks.
Step 8: Mix and Earth Brown glaze by adding 1 teas. Earth Brown Color to each cup of Aquacreme/Mastercreme. Use a soft rubber trowel to trowel this over the whole finish, allowing it to pool around the edges of the design.
